Katie Clarke
Director & co-founder
I am Katie one of the Directors and co-founder of Visits Unlimited. I am a parent to 6 young people in their 20s including my deaf and disabled daughter who has been my teacher and educator. I have spent the last 29 years thinking and breathing access and have set up many award winning projects thanks to her!
From the point of thinking about a trip whether it is local, a day out further afield, or a night away we have a huge amount of planning to do.
I have worked with families and disabled people across the country and listened to their stories for over 25 years. I know that even leaving the house is challenging and the many barriers facing disabled people and family carers prevent them having the confidence from going out and about.
For this reason I co-founded Visits Unlimited – to make a day out more simple, to make a trip away more memorable and to take away some of the many physical and attitudinal barriers that ourselves, other families and disabled people face every day.
I am an experienced trainer and facilitator, speaker at conferences, and as well as running workshops and projects for Visits Unlimited I am well known in the field of disability among many other organisations and charities.
I regularly attend the England’s Inclusive Tourism Action Group and work nationally at strategic level. I love the countryside, nature, long walks in the hills of our local area of Calderdale and watching films!
