Katie Clarke

Director & co-founder

I am Katie one of the Directors and co-founder of Visits Unlimited. I am a parent to 6 adults in their 20s and 30s including my deaf and disabled daughter who has been my teacher and educator. I have spent the last 30 years thinking and breathing access and inclusion whilst setting up many award winning projects thanks to her.

I have worked with families and disabled people across the country and listened to their stories which are the backbone to my work. I know that leaving the house is challenging and the many barriers facing disabled people and family carers prevent them having the confidence from going out and about, taking part in events, cultural activities, and feeling isolated from their communities.

For this reason I co-founded Visits Unlimited – to make a day out more simple, to make a trip away more memorable and to take away some of the many physical and attitudinal barriers that ourselves, other families and disabled people face every day.

I am an experienced trainer and facilitator, speaker at conferences, and as well as running workshops and projects for Accessible Calderdale and other voluntary organisations. I am passionate about genuine co-production and asking, listening, doing and bringing people together.

I attend the England’s Inclusive Tourism Action Group and work nationally at strategic level. I love the countryside, nature, long walks in the hills of our local area of Calderdale and watching films!
