Access Champions Volunteer Training
Are you a Calderdale based organisation with volunteers who would like to become Access Champions as part of the Year of Culture?
We have free training available to support you and your volunteers to provide excellent customer service to disabled people their families and carers.
Upcoming training dates:
Thursday 20th February 10 am – 1 pm at Orange Box
Tuesday 18th March 5 – 8 pm at Orange Box
Thursday 10th April 3 – 6 pm at Orange Box
This training will be co-delivered by disabled people in partnership with the Accessible Calderdale Project.
What will be covered:
- The Social Model of Disability
- Attitudes and behaviours
- Inclusive language
- The barriers facing disabled people in society
- Stereotypes, myths and misconceptions about disabled people
- Do’s and Don’ts – scenario analysis
This training programme is designed to provide volunteers with the support and guidance needed to offer a warm and inclusive welcome to each and every visitor at our Year of Culture events and beyond.
You will get a T shirt, High vis vest to wear on event days and a bag of free resources to support visitors at your venue.
